About Apollo

1969COMPANY HISTORY:

Apollo Propane Inc. is a locally owned and operated retail propane business providing the residents of southwest Ohio with the highest quality propane gas and exceptional service for over forty years.

Apollo was founded and owned by Walter O. Fritzsche, Jr. in 1969. Walter was not new to the industry since propane ran in the family as his father, Walter O. Fritzsche, Sr., started and operated Walt’s Bottle Gas in 1949. Walter Jr. gained valuable experience working with his father and started his own propane business several years before actually incorporating in 1969. Apollo was successfully launched with the help of his devoted and loving wife Luella, and their four teenage sons. The business was named after the Apollo space program because along with being intensely patriotic, Wally shared the same focus of purpose, hard work and dedication to a goal that enabled America to put men on the moon.

Walter became affectionately known as “Wally the Gasser” because of his close connection to his customers and his willingness to go the extra mile for each of them. Apollo operated on West Third Street in Dayton until moving to its present location in 1974. The Company expanded its original plant storage from 30,000 to 90,000 gallons in 1994 and again to 180,000 gallons in 2007 to meet its growth requirements and to ensure guaranteed supply for its customers.

Sadly, Walter passed away in 2006. The team here at Apollo proudly honors Wally’s legacy by continuing the service traditions he insisted on for the propane needs of several thousand Apollo customers in eight counties of southwest Ohio. The Company continues to grow through the service of its dedicated employees, the use of new and emerging technologies and our belief that old fashioned values like service and personal relationships are not only still relevant, but more important than ever.

WHY PROPANE?

Economic Benefits: Propane can offer significant cost savings over other energy sources. Propane is cheaper per Btu produced, propane appliances are more efficient and propane appliances can last up to 50% longer.

1972

Versatility: Propane is portable and can be delivered almost anywhere. Propane is commonly used for furnaces, hot water heaters, cook stoves, clothes dryers, grills, ventless space heaters, gas fireplaces, garage/shop heat, outdoor lighting, patio heaters, swimming pool heaters, generators, construction heaters and more!

Green Fuel: Propane is clean burning, emitting less greenhouse gases than diesel, gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene and electricity in most applications. Propane is non-toxic and will not contaminate soil or groundwater. Propane is even exempt from the EPA’s stringent underground storage regulations.

comfort

Comfort: Nothing is as comfortable as a gas furnace for heating the home. Propane appliances in general are warmer, cleaner, more efficient, and faster and have quicker recovery times than alternative fuels.

Power Outages: Many propane appliances will continue to function when you lose power. A propane powered generator will keep your home or business running smoothly!

Stability: Propane can be stored indefinitely without deteriorating like gasoline and other liquid fuels.

Safety: Propane appliances, containers, delivery vehicles and dispensing equipment are manufactured to the strictest standards and incorporate many modern safety features in their design. The propane industry requires recurring and job specific training for all personnel who handle propane. As a result propane has become one of the safest energy sources available.
